Our exciting choice of led activities has been created with education around food production in mind.

These are the kind of things groups can do on the farm. 

 

Availability will vary with the season and other factors.

  • A tour of the farm to see and discuss animals, crops, permanent pasture, ridge and furrow, hedgerows, orchard etc
  • Collecting eggs, harvesting vegetables, bedding the barn with straw, grinding wheat, milking the house cow, hedge planting and other hands-on activities (all seasonal)
  • Life cycle studies (eg, wheat plants, apple trees, hens, cattle, sheep)
  • Food chain studies
  • Energy cycles on the farm
  • Observing bird boxes and spotting birds (swallows in summer)
  • Activities around vegetable production: sowing, harvesting, identifying vegetables
  • Observing lambing pens, care of young lambs (spring)
  • Hedgerow study, woodland study, meadow plant identification
